(PRESS RELEASE) BERLIN, 7-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Celebrating a decade of hands-on social impact, Zalando commemorates 10 years of corporate volunteering as a core component of its company ethos. What began in 2015 as a grassroots employee movement has flourished into a cornerstone of Zalando’s commitment to responsible business and community engagement.

To honor this milestone, Zalando organized a dedicated volunteering week across Berlin, presenting nearly 400 distinct activities. Employees collectively contributed almost 1,000 volunteer hours, taking part in initiatives such as riverbank clean-ups along the Spree, supporting a girls’ climbing festival in Neukölln, assembling hygiene kits for unhoused individuals alongside partner vostel.de, and preparing more than 6,100 “school cones” with books and supplies for disadvantaged children in collaboration with Berliner Tafel.

“Volunteering fosters connection and learning,” reflects Astrid Arndt, Chief People Officer. “Whether at our Berlin HQ or across our logistical and tech sites, these days help us grow, listen, and make a tangible difference.” Lara Gesche, Principal Social Impact, adds, “This tradition isn’t a one-off program—it’s woven into our identity and unites us around shared purpose.”

Since launching the formal volunteering program, Zalando’s workforce has partnered with over 150 nonprofits, supported 460+ community projects, and logged more than 30,000 volunteer hours. Employees receive two paid volunteer days annually, with all activities hosted within 50 kilometers of Zalando offices and warehouses—spanning Berlin, Dortmund, Dublin, Stockholm, Helsinki, and Zurich—to maximize local impact.

“As we look ahead, we remain committed to empowering our teams and strengthening the social fabric of our communities,” Arndt concludes. “Here’s to the next ten years of meaningful collaboration.”
