Infineon Unveils High-Performance AURIX TC4Dx Microcontroller for Next-Gen Software-Defined Vehicles

(IN BRIEF) Infineon Technologies has introduced the AURIX™ TC4Dx, the first in its new line of AURIX TC4x microcontrollers, engineered on 28nm technology to enhance performance, connectivity, and cybersecurity for software-defined vehicles. Featuring a multi-core architecture and integrated AI capabilities, the TC4Dx is designed to support complex automotive applications, such as ADAS and vehicle motion control, with strong functional safety and post-quantum cryptography standards. The MCU will be showcased at electronica 2024 in Munich.

(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 6-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has unveiled the AURIX™ TC4Dx, the inaugural microcontroller (MCU) in its new AURIX TC4x family. Built on 28nm technology, the AURIX TC4Dx delivers enhanced performance and faster connectivity, incorporating advancements in virtualization, artificial intelligence, functional safety, cybersecurity, and networking. Designed for next-generation software-defined vehicles and Electric/Electronic (E/E) architectures, this MCU enables robust control across critical automotive systems, including vehicle motion control, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and chassis management.

Thomas Boehm, Infineon’s Senior Vice President for Microcontrollers, emphasized that “MCUs like the AURIX TC4Dx are fundamental to advancing vehicle performance, safety, and comfort in software-defined vehicles.” Boehm noted that the AURIX TC4Dx supports secure, high-performance processing, providing Infineon customers with faster time-to-market and reduced total system costs.

The AURIX TC4Dx’s advanced multi-core architecture features a 500MHz TriCore™ processor with six cores, all equipped with lock-step functionality to meet stringent functional safety standards. A Parallel Processing Unit (PPU) supports embedded AI applications for motor control, battery management, and vehicle motion. Enhanced networking capabilities include accelerators for Ethernet and CAN communication and support for high-speed interfaces like 5 Gbit/s Ethernet, PCIe, 10Base-T1S, and CAN-XL, providing the flexibility needed for advanced E/E vehicle architectures. It also meets ISO26262 ASIL-D safety requirements and adheres to the latest ISO/SAE21434 cybersecurity standards, including post-quantum cryptography support.

The AURIX TC4Dx MCU is currently in sampling and is expected to enter mass production in 2025. Additional information can be found at www.infineon.com/aurixTC4x. Infineon will showcase the new MCU at electronica 2024 in Munich, held from November 12 to 15 in Hall C3, Booth 502.
