Telefónica Launches Relief Campaign and Provides Free Services for Flood-Affected Communities

(IN BRIEF) Telefónica and its Foundation have launched an emergency relief effort for flood victims across affected regions, deploying technical teams to restore communications and providing free data and national calls through Movistar. In partnership with the Red Cross, Fundación Telefónica has also started a donation campaign, with funds allocated to essential supplies. Telefónica’s corporate volunteers are on standby to support these efforts alongside other aid organizations.

(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 1-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — In response to severe flooding across various regions, Telefónica and its Foundation have activated extensive relief efforts to support affected communities and restore communications swiftly. Movistar, part of Telefónica España, immediately deployed technical teams and collaborated with State Security Forces to address the crisis. To assist those impacted, Movistar has provided free, unlimited data and national calls in affected areas, as well as suspended charges for landline services.

Telefónica, alongside Fundación Telefónica, launched the #MovilizadosPorLaDana campaign, combining financial, human, and digital resources with support from volunteers. Partnering with the Red Cross, Fundación Telefónica initiated a donation campaign to fund essential materials for the affected communities, and Telefónica has pledged an additional financial contribution to the collected funds.

The corporate volunteer network has also been mobilized, with Telefónica coordinating with the Red Cross and other aid organizations to provide resources as needed to support recovery efforts in impacted areas.
