ZÜBLIN Unveils Modern Administration Hub for Dresden with Sustainable Design

(IN BRIEF) The new Stadtforum Dresden, built by ZÜBLIN and Dreßler Bau GmbH for KID Kommunale Immobilien Dresden GmbH & Co. KG, has been unveiled as a modern administration center that brings together various municipal departments and offers workspaces for around 1,500 employees in urban development, construction, transport, and economic development. Designed as an open, citizen-friendly facility, the building features an inviting entrance and a spacious Agora for information, exchange, and service, and spans 16,700 m² with a distinctive three-part façade and central glass feature that faces the town hall. The high-quality interior design, featuring wooden slat constructions and energy-efficient technologies, further enhances the building’s functionality and appeal. The opening ceremony held on March 29 celebrated the successful collaboration and innovative design that underpin the project.

(PRESS RELEASE) DRESDEN, 1-Apr-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — ZÜBLIN has successfully completed the planning and construction of the new administration center for Dresden, known as Stadtforum Dresden. Serving as a hub for information, exchange, and citizen services, this modern building consolidates numerous municipal departments under one roof and provides workspaces for approximately 1,500 employees across urban development, construction, transport, and economic development. The project, commissioned by KID Kommunale Immobilien Dresden GmbH & Co. KG, was executed by a consortium led by Ed. Züblin AG in partnership with Dreßler Bau GmbH acting as the general contractor.

The Stadtforum Dresden was designed to be an open and welcoming center, with an inviting entrance area and a spacious “Agora” that functions as a central meeting point. This dynamic environment not only facilitates communication and service but also reflects the city’s commitment to modern administration. The building spans 16,700 m² of above-ground space, boasting a striking three-part façade that combines contrasting upper floors with expansive glass surfaces on the lower levels. A key visual highlight is the central glass façade of the Agora, which opens wide to offer a panoramic view of the town hall across the street.

Sustainability and innovative design are integral to the project. Two expansive green inner courtyards and a flat roof covered in greenery enhance the building’s environmental credentials, which are being further validated through certification efforts under sustainable building criteria (BNB). In addition to 165 parking spaces for cars, the underground car park supports sustainable mobility by providing 371 bicycle parking spots. The interior features high-quality design elements, including wooden slat constructions and vertical green accents that create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. State-of-the-art office and meeting areas, complemented by energy-efficient heating, air conditioning with district heating supply, and heated and chilled ceilings, ensure a comfortable indoor climate.

Frank Hübner, Head of Construction at ZÜBLIN’s Saxony division, expressed pride in the project, noting that the striking architecture and successful collaboration among all stakeholders highlight the potential of constructive partnerships. The opening ceremony for Stadtforum Dresden was held on March 29, marking the official debut of this central administrative hub.
