(PRESS RELEASE) FRIEDRICHSHAFEN/ HANOVER, 15-Sep-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — ZF Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) is reporting continued commercial momentum as the global commercial vehicle industry transitions toward zero-emission, increasingly automated and software-defined platforms, with the division securing more than €5 billion in awarded lifetime business during 2026 so far and achieving an almost 90% win rate in customer acquisitions.

Ahead of and during IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, ZF is highlighting technologies spanning electric and hybrid drivetrains, braking and air management, advanced safety systems, software-defined vehicle architectures and connected services. The company said the breadth of its portfolio allows vehicle manufacturers and fleet operators to pursue different transformation pathways depending on regional regulation, infrastructure readiness, vehicle applications and market conditions.

Growth in key markets is also supporting the division’s performance. ZF reported that its CVS business in India is up 41% compared with 2025, reflecting increasing demand across commercial vehicle technologies.

Andreas Moser, Member of the ZF Board of Management and Head of the CVS Division, said the long-term direction of commercial vehicle development remains centred on safer transport, lower emissions and more intelligent vehicles, although the pace and technology mix vary considerably between regions and applications.

He said ZF’s role is to give customers the flexibility to select technologies that fit their own transformation strategies rather than relying on a single pathway.

Fabian Schlegel, Global Head of Sales and Head of the EMEA Region at ZF CVS, said the division’s almost 90% customer acquisition win rate and more than €5 billion in awarded business demonstrate continued customer confidence in ZF’s technology portfolio and long-term commercial vehicle strategy.

Decarbonisation remains one of the principal areas of investment. ZF is supporting customers through hybrid and fully electric driveline technologies designed for different duty cycles and infrastructure environments.

Among the driveline systems being presented at IAA Transportation 2026 is TraXon Hybrid, which provides an electrification pathway for long-haul transport based on ZF’s established transmission platform. The company is also showcasing CeTrax 2, with increased power levels, expanded application coverage and Power Take-Off availability, as well as AxTrax 2, which offers higher output torque to support greater gross combination weights and a wider range of applications.

ZF’s Modular e-Drive Kit provides scalable electric-drive building blocks intended to serve as a common foundation for different commercial vehicle electrification solutions.

The division has also recorded a number of recent commercial milestones for its driveline technologies. These include a major AxTrax 2 LF city-bus business win in India, the start of AxTrax 2 production in China and the entry of CeTrax 2 dual into series production in Europe.

ZF has additionally achieved business success in Japan with TraXon 2 with Intarder for the Hino S’Elega coach. Since 2014, the company has produced more than 1.5 million TraXon automated manual transmissions.

Beyond propulsion, ZF is developing systems intended to improve vehicle efficiency and reduce operating costs. In 2026, the company expects to reach the milestone of one million two-stage compressors produced and delivered, two decades after introducing the technology at IAA 2006.

Its new Air Supply Unit combines the e-comp Scroll electrified compressor with air-processing technology in a single integrated system designed to improve compressed-air generation in electrified commercial vehicles.

ZF is also introducing the MAXX Uniper Air Disc Brake, a new-generation single-piston air disc brake designed for improved performance and reduced brake-dust particle emissions. The system has been developed with future Euro 7 requirements in mind.

Commercial progress in this area includes the extension of a contract with a major global truck and bus manufacturer for ZF’s Electronic Air Processing Unit, alongside continued compressor growth in North America supported by a new long-term agreement with Cummins.

Safety and vehicle automation form another major component of the company’s IAA programme. ZF is presenting a scalable portfolio of cameras and radars that allows manufacturers to configure sensing architectures for different advanced driver assistance and automated-driving functions.

The portfolio includes enhanced 360-degree safety functions with automatic braking intervention intended to help prevent collisions during complex driving and manoeuvring situations.

A new electronic control unit has also been developed to support centralised and zonal electrical/electronic architectures, providing a foundation for greater software scalability and reduced system complexity.

ZF combines these technologies with braking systems capable of supporting higher levels of automation. Its mBSP XBS braking technology, designed to support up to Level 4 automated-driving applications, has already been deployed more than 250,000 times globally.

The company is also extending intelligent braking capabilities to trailers through its latest-generation iEBS, which integrates braking and control functions intended to support increasingly automated truck-trailer combinations.

ZF said it continues to hold a leading position in European advanced driver assistance systems, supported by customer commitments extending through 2030. The company also reports continued European leadership in advanced trailer braking systems while accelerating deployment in China and South America.

In India, ZF has secured significant Electronic Stability Control (ESC) business ahead of upcoming regulatory requirements. Across its global operations, the company has now deployed approximately 20 million braking systems, including ABS, EBS and mBSP XBS products.

Software is becoming increasingly important to ZF’s commercial vehicle strategy as manufacturers move toward service-oriented, centrally controlled and updateable vehicle architectures.

ZF describes the Software-Defined Commercial Vehicle (SdCV) as an evolutionary development already delivering practical benefits through better vehicle uptime, reduced maintenance requirements, regulatory support and connected services.

At IAA Transportation 2026, the company is presenting a service-oriented vehicle architecture as a foundation for software-defined commercial vehicles, alongside its Truck-Trailer Link for deeper integration between tractors and trailers and Over-the-Air Update Solutions that allow vehicle functionality to be updated over the operating lifecycle.

ZF is also showcasing OptiRide ECAS, where an enhanced Smart Pneumatic Actuator can host application software directly without requiring a separate external electronic control unit. The approach is intended to simplify integration and reduce system costs.

Several software-based products are already being used commercially. ZF’s SUMS Service Suite, designed to help manufacturers manage regulatory requirements around software update management, is now used by more than 150 trailer manufacturers.

The company’s [pro]Diagnostics platform provides software-as-a-service diagnostics for manufacturers and fleets, incorporating regular updates and cybersecurity compliance.

ZF Health Check provides information on the condition of components including AxTrax 2 LF, while the company’s e-Drive and Braking Synergy Program combines intelligent software with vehicle systems to improve performance and efficiency.

ZF said its overall commercial vehicle strategy reflects the reality that manufacturers and fleets are progressing toward decarbonisation, automation and software-defined architectures at different speeds. By offering modular technologies across drivetrains, braking, safety, vehicle control and digital services, the company aims to allow customers to adopt appropriate solutions without committing to a single technology route.

Visitors to IAA Transportation 2026, taking place in Hanover from 15 to 20 September 2026, can see the latest ZF Commercial Vehicle Solutions technologies in Hall 21, Booth B42.
