(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 12-Aug-2026 — /EuropaWire/ —  Wireless Logic, the world’s largest independent provider of enterprise Internet of Things connectivity, has announced the signing of an agreement to acquire Algar Telecom’s IoT connectivity business.

The business will become part of Arqia once the transaction is completed.

The deal remains subject to customary closing conditions, including applicable regulatory approvals.

The agreement builds on Wireless Logic’s 2025 acquisition of Arqia and reinforces the group’s strategy to expand in Latin America, with Brazil identified as a key growth market.

The transaction is also expected to strengthen Arqia’s position as Brazil’s largest IoT-focused Mobile Virtual Network Operator.

For Algar, the divestment will support further investment in its core IT and telecommunications business.

Once completed, the transaction will combine Wireless Logic’s global scale with Arqia’s local market expertise.

The combined capabilities are expected to support businesses across sectors including agribusiness, logistics, payments, utilities, manufacturing, healthcare and smart cities as they scale connected operations.

Wireless Logic said Latin America is one of the world’s most promising IoT growth markets, and the acquisition will strengthen Arqia’s ability to support digital transformation across the region.

The companies said the deal will help customers drive efficiency, innovation and competitiveness through IoT-enabled connectivity.

Algar Telecom’s IoT business was launched in 2019 with a focus on Machine-to-Machine and Point of Sale markets.

It has since established itself as one of Brazil’s leading IoT platforms.

Tomas Fuchs, CEO of Arqia, said the signing of the agreement marks an important milestone for Arqia and reinforces its growth strategy.

He said that, once completed, the transaction will enhance Arqia’s ability to develop more comprehensive solutions for customers while accelerating expansion in a market that continues to experience strong growth.

Fuchs added that the agreement demonstrates Wireless Logic’s confidence in Brazil’s potential as its key growth market in Latin America.

He said it also reinforces the company’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation through IoT by connecting businesses, infrastructure and essential services to support a more efficient, intelligent and competitive economy.

Eliane Garcia Melgaço, President of Algar, said the decision is a deliberate step to accelerate Algar’s investments in comprehensive IT and telecommunications solutions.

She said the company will focus on high-value areas such as cloud, cybersecurity and professional services.

Melgaço added that Algar’s technological strength, combined with its ability to build close and trusted customer relationships, makes the company distinctive in the market.

She said the move forms part of Algar’s strategic repositioning and reinforces its role as a trusted partner in customers’ digital transformation journeys.

Beyond the added scale, the integration is expected to significantly expand Arqia’s solutions portfolio.

It will also strengthen the company’s capabilities in mission-critical IoT and M2M applications.

Customers are expected to benefit from a stronger organisation with greater capacity to deliver both national and international projects.

The expanded business will be supported by Wireless Logic’s global expertise, which connects millions of devices in more than 165 countries and serves thousands of businesses across multiple industries.

Oliver Tucker, Co-founder and CEO of Wireless Logic, said the agreement represents another important step in executing the company’s strategy for Latin America.

He said that, once the transaction is completed, Wireless Logic will combine Arqia’s local expertise with its own global scale to deliver greater value to customers and accelerate the development of the IoT market across the region.

Until closing, Algar’s IoT business and Arqia will continue to operate independently.

The companies said this will ensure uninterrupted services, customer support and contractual commitments.

After completion, a phased integration process will begin.

The integration will focus on expanding Arqia’s capabilities while preserving operational excellence and creating long-term value for customers, partners and employees.
