(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 10-Feb-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — In the CDP’s annual sustainability assessment, WACKER achieved the top score of A in the Climate Change category for the first time, thus confirming WACKER’s leading role in climate protection. The non-profit CDP assesses the transparency and performance of organizations in the categories Climate Change, Water Security and Forests in the most important global investor questionnaire.

“WACKER’s top A rating confirms our leading position in climate and environmental protection,” says Peter Gigler, Head of Sustainability at WACKER. “We are one of only 346 companies worldwide to have received this rating. And this despite the fact that the criteria were significantly tightened in the last few years.”

As a non-profit CDP (formerly “Carbon Disclosure Project”) has set itself the goal of motivating companies and municipalities to disclose their environmental impact to promote investment in a sustainable economy. To this end, CDP collects and assesses data and information on environmental impacts, targets and strategies on behalf of investors on an annual basis. Participation is voluntary using standardized questionnaires on the topics of Climate Change, Water Security and Forests. The rating scale ranges from A (leadership, top score) to F (insufficient information).

With the top score of A in the Climate Change questionnaire, WACKER topped the assessment group of over 21,000 companies worldwide in this category for the first time this year. According to CDP, these companies are characterized by high-quality and complete data that provides a holistic overview of environmental impacts and transition plans. WACKER also confirmed its leading position in the Water Security category and, as in the previous year, received an A-.
