(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 14-Jun-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Wacker Chemie AG has inaugurated its new corporate headquarters, WACKER House, in Munich’s vibrant Werksviertel District. Designed by Danish architecture firm C.F. Møller, the 18,000 square meter facility showcases cutting-edge sustainable building technologies. The modern office concept accommodates approximately 600 employees across five floors, emphasizing flexibility and collaboration.

During the opening ceremony attended by Bavaria’s state governor Markus Söder and other dignitaries, WACKER CEO Christian Hartel highlighted the significance of WACKER House in fostering a dynamic working environment. “This new headquarters symbolizes more than just a building; it represents a new era of innovation and creativity,” Hartel stated. “WACKER House will serve as a catalyst for entrepreneurial success, promoting modern and agile work practices.”

Bavaria’s state governor Markus Söder underscored the importance of the chemical industry and innovation for the region, emphasizing support for businesses and economic growth initiatives. Clemens Baumgärtner, responsible for Labor and Economic Affairs for the City of Munich, praised WACKER’s longstanding commitment to the city and its choice of the vibrant Werksviertel District for its new headquarters.

WACKER House integrates sustainable features such as triple-glazed windows, thermally insulated walls, and rainwater retention systems, aiming for the highest LEED certification standards. The building’s design prioritizes natural light and energy efficiency, supported by locally produced district heating.

Situated near Munich East station, WACKER House was developed by Patrizia with significant use of WACKER products, including silicones and polymers. The facility not only enhances WACKER’s operational capabilities but also contributes to the revitalization of the Werksviertel District.

WACKER is a global company with state-of-the-art specialty chemical products found in countless everyday items, ranging from tile adhesives to computer chips. The company has a global network of 27 production sites, 22 technical competence centers and 48 sales offices. With around 16,400 employees, WACKER generated annual
sales of around €6.4 billion in fiscal 2023.

WACKER operates through four business divisions. The chemical divisions WACKER SILICONES and WACKER POLYMERS supply products (silicones, polymeric binders) for the automotive, construction, chemical, consumer goods and medical technology industries. WACKER BIOSOLUTIONS, the life sciences division, specializes in bioengineered products such as biopharmaceuticals and food additives. WACKER POLYSILICON produces hyperpure polysilicon for the semiconductor and photovoltaic industries.
