(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON/PORTHCURNO, 15-Sep-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — VOIS (Vodafone Intelligent Solutions), the shared operations hub of Vodafone Group Plc, has announced a new sponsorship with PK Porthcurno – Museum of Global Communications, creating a bridge between the origins of global connectivity and the future of digital transformation. Under the agreement, VOIS will become the primary sponsor of the PK Network, a global initiative that brings together industry partners to support the museum’s mission of preserving and promoting the history of telecommunications while inspiring innovation for generations to come.

Located in Cornwall at the historic landing point of the world’s early subsea telegraph cables, PK Porthcurno tells the story of how global communications developed, weaving together both technological advancements and the human narratives that shaped them. The museum’s work is deeply rooted in education, culture, and innovation, and the sponsorship with VOIS will strengthen its programmes, particularly in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), while encouraging diversity and inspiring young people to engage with technology.

The partnership also draws on the long-standing tradition of consortia in telecommunications. Subsea cable systems have historically relied on collaborative networks of partners, a model that echoes Vodafone’s own beginnings as a consortium in the 1980s before evolving into one of the world’s leading telecoms groups. Today, VOIS continues that spirit of collaboration through its Open Consortia Model, launched in partnership with Accenture in 2024, which reimagines shared operations for telcos through an agile, transparent ecosystem of partners.

Julia Twomlow, CEO & Creative Director of PK Porthcurno, welcomed the partnership:
“We are absolutely delighted to be working with VOIS as the primary partner on the launch of the PK Network. With our world-class collections and historic site, we tell the story of communications from the earliest telegraph connections in the 1800s through to the present day, while also celebrating the people and communities who made it happen. The PK Network will help us protect this heritage and share it with future generations.”

Gary Adey, CEO of VOIS, added:
“Our sponsorship with PK Porthcurno is more than recognition of the industry’s past – it is a reminder of the invisible infrastructure that underpins everything we do today and will build tomorrow. At VOIS, we are proud to honour that legacy while applying a consortia approach to reinvent Shared Operations for Telco, creating a more sustainable, innovative, and globally connected community.”

The collaboration will be officially launched with a virtual signing event involving VOIS employees worldwide. It also aligns with Vodafone’s ESG commitments, supporting PK Porthcurno’s Planet PK programme, which highlights the relationship between connectivity and environmental responsibility. By working together, VOIS and PK Porthcurno will advance their shared commitment to sustainability, community, and innovation, linking the past with the future of communications.
