(PRESS RELEASE) BERKSHIRE, 28-Apr-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Vodafone (LON: VOD), a British multinational leader in technology communications, is thrilled to announce the expansion of our mobile network in the Alpine region, covering 99.7% of populated areas. We have built 78 new 5G stations and upgraded existing sites, resulting in a total of 416 mobile phone stations in the region, eliminating 22 dead spots. Customers in Oberallgäu, Ostallgäu, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Miesbach, Rosenheim, Traunstein, and Berchtesgadener Land are all now connected to our network, delivering better connectivity for Alpine communities.

Moreover, we have installed Advanced Mobile Location (AML) emergency call technology in all 416 mobile phone stations, providing precise location information to rescue coordination centers for quick assistance in emergency situations. Additionally, the new Cell Broadcast disaster warning system is now in operation in all 416 mobile radio stations, enabling us to warn local populations of natural disasters via text message.

Our partnership with the German Alpine Club 30 years ago, to expand our network coverage, has allowed us to provide improved connectivity and safety for hikers, cyclists, and holidaymakers. We have also observed that mobile data traffic in the region is growing rapidly, with an annual growth rate of over 35%, which is why we will continue to expand mobile communications in the Alps with 15 more mobile data highways by the end of 2023.

We take pride in offering our customers the latest mobile technology, helping them stay connected to loved ones and friends while ensuring their safety in emergency situations.
