Vertom-Bojen Bereederungs GmbH & Co. KG implements DNV GL’s ShipManager fleet management software for its vessels

OSLO, 07-Jun-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — Vertom-Bojen Bereederungs GmbH & Co. KG is implementing DNV GL’s ShipManager integrated fleet management software to further improve cost efficiency, process optimization and quality of operations for 41 vessels.

One fleet management system

When Vertom and Bojen Reederei established the new organization Vertom-Bojen, the fleet consisted of vessels with different software setups that were not integrated. Data was collected, but the system was not streamlined in order to extract insights for management decisions. The management team at Vertom-Bojen realized that a new fleet management system was needed. Using several different software systems to manage one fleet can be costly, inefficient and lead to communication challenges between vessels and onshore management.

Data smart solutions for a growing fleet

The merger was an opportunity to professionalize the setup of Vertom-Bojen by implementing a centralized software solution for a growing fleet. With DNV GL’s ShipManager Vertom-Bojen has a new, integrated and data smart fleet management software system. ShipManager helps simplify and optimize the ship management by allowing extensive fleet-wide data collection, analysis, benchmarking and decision-making support with ShipManager Analyzer.

Vertom-Bojen is based in Neermoor, Germany and has a fleet consisting of mini bulkers, general cargo vessels and multi-purpose vessels. Vertom, located in Rhoon near Rotterdam, provides in-house chartering for Vertom-Bojen with more than 40 years’ experience and 80 vessels in chartering.

“The unique report and analysing system along with the user-friendly interface were key reasons we chose DNV GL’s ShipManager,” says Warner Wanders, Managing Director at Vertom-Bojen. “For us it was also important to see the development plans for the future that include innovative tools and functionalities that integrate and analyse data from Class and other data sources,” he says.

“We in DNV GL are very pleased to secure yet another ShipManager contract in Europe,” says Are Føllesdal Tjønn, CEO of DNV GL – Software. “Being both a leading classification society and provider of ship management software puts us in a unique position to serve the market. We look forward to a successful implementation of ShipManager with Vertom-Bojen,” he says.

Integrated system

The entire integrated ShipManager suite, comprising ShipManager Technical, Procurement, Project, QHSE, Crewing and Analyzer for BI / Fleet Analytics, will be implemented by Vertom-Bojen.

The latest release of ShipManager includes the Safety Management Reporting module with a new and flexible user interface, increasing efficiency and optimizing processes to improve safety at sea.

“We welcome Vertom-Bojen to our user community,” says Sebastian Eggert, Senior Specialist Ship Management and Operations at DNV GL. “It is clear that Vertom-Bojen’s “quality first” strategy aligns with our values at DNV GL. Our extensive experience and project management approach were important. With this win we significantly underline our strength position in a key market,” he says.
