VDL Bus & Coach turns 10 in Finland: 500 VDL buses and coaches sold in Finland since 2007

Valkenswaard, the Netherlands, 12-May-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — On 20 April 2017 VDL Bus & Coach Finland Oy celebrated its 10th anniversary. The company has experienced strong growth and development since its founding in 2007. In that time more than 500 VDL buses and coaches have been sold in Finland. As the icing on the celebratory cake, the first VDL Futura FDD2 double-decker coach was recently delivered.

Marcel Jacobs, commercial director VDL Bus & Coach bv, says, “The Finnish team has captured an important position in the Finnish market for VDL, in part through a very strong after-sales position. In particular, the leading position in the area of city buses over the past five years is deserving of a huge compliment. We are therefore very proud of the ten years of successful cooperation with VDL Bus & Coach Finland.”

Roots in the past
The history of VDL Bus & Coach Finland goes back further than 2007. Even before the establishment in 2007, Timo Vainio, working for Autojousi Vuola Ky, handled sales for the BOVA, Berkhof and Jonckheere brands. The first BOVA Futura was sold in Finland way back in 1985. Today the VDL Futura range is still popular among Finnish coach operators. Over the past five years VDL Bus & Coach Finland has captured a large market share in the public transport sector.

Ambitions for the future
Henrik Mikkola, director VDL Bus & Coach Finland, says, “In Finland we took on the competition as a small player. The Finnish customer is demanding and quality conscious. We have therefore made our after-sales activities and the continuous care for our customer relationships our highest priorities. The result has been significant growth. We are presently focused on further growth in the future.” “We are proud of our current comprehensive repair and maintenance network. It is our intention to develop further so we can serve our customers and their changing needs even better. We are focusing on developments in the field of electric bus transport, which will play an ever greater role in the future,” says Sami Ojami, commercial director VDL Bus & Coach Finland.
