University of Exeter’s Paul Blackmore Honored with Kathy Sims Mentoring Award

(PRESS RELEASE) EXETER, 6-Apr-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Paul Blackmore, the University of Exeter’s Divisional Head for Student Employability and Academic Success [SEAS], has been presented with a prestigious professional international award.

Paul received the Kathy Sims Mentoring Award at the Global Career Services Summit Awards, held recently in Washington DC.

The award is given to “acknowledge a member of the Global Career Services community who shares their knowledge and expertise to advise, support, or guide the professional development of other colleagues and professional practice within the international higher education and graduate recruiter community”.

Speaking after receiving the award, Paul said: “I feel incredibly honoured to receive this award, even more so in the presence of so many esteemed global career and graduate recruitment leaders. I have been very fortunate to be part of a supportive and generous community of practice throughout my career and wish to thank all of those colleagues who have gifted me their generous time and sage advice over the years and who embody the sentiments behind this award.”

Paul joined the University of Exeter in 2010, having previously served as Director of the Centre for Employability, Enterprise and Careers at Lancaster University. He has written books, academic papers, contributed to Government reports, delivered numerous workshops, training programmes and conference presentations nationally and internationally on the subject of employability and University-Business ecosystems.

Making the award, Dan Black, Global Leader for Talent Attraction & Acquisition at international professional services firm EY, said of Paul: “He is an innovator and a mentor who’s worked in the higher education space for more than 30 years. He’s been a passionate advocate for social justice, well before it was popular to do so.

“He’s shared his knowledge, consistently and generously, through keynotes, training programs, academies and consortia and has held numerous chairship and leadership positions.
