DUNDEE, 29-Jan-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — International students at the University of Dundee have rated their overall satisfaction at over 93 per cent, one of the highest scores in the latest International Student Barometer (ISB).

With feedback from over 3 million students worldwide across all student types, levels and years of study, the ISB is the world’s largest annual survey of international students.

The results of ISB’s Autumn 2017 survey have just been released to participating universities.

Overall satisfaction among the Dundee students rose from 90.9 per cent in 2016 to 93.7 per cent, the third highest score out of the 31 UK universities who took part and seventh among the 120 universities worldwide in the survey.

Dundee had the highest score globally for ‘satisfaction with Support’, at 96.6 per cent, and on ‘satisfaction with Living’ was highest in the UK and third globally at 92.5 per cent.

Wendy Alexander, Vice-Principal of International, said, “We are really proud of offering a first-class experience to international students. Making students feel truly welcome when they are miles from home is our mission.

“Embarking on a degree in another country is often the biggest investment an international student and their family will make in decades. By delivering a global top ten experience, the University is demonstrating that Dundee is a city of discovery for the worlds brightest and best who want to realise their future ambitions.”

Yashwini Meenowa, a Postgraduate Medical Art student from Mauritius, said, “I knew about Dundee because I have a background in medicine and lots of innovations and drug discoveries come from here. I’m lucky to be on such a cool course. It’s so offbeat because it mixes medicine with art.

“The city has such a cosmopolitan feeling and I haven’t felt out of place at all. Everyone is so welcoming and Dundee has been amazing. I’ve only been here five months but I’ve loved every minute.”

First-year Applied Computing student Mandar Tamhane, from Mumbai, said, “Everyone has been so helpful and supportive in getting me settled. People in general in Dundee are happy to help you.

“I’ve travelled to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Skye, but Dundee is so sunny and so warm. I’d say if anyone was going to move to Scotland then they should come to Dundee. It’s the best.”

The ISB is the leading benchmarking tool used to track the international student experience. It is independently administered for universities by the International Graduate Insight Group.
