UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure Opens National Power Monitoring Center Powered by Siemens

(IN BRIEF) The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has inaugurated the Emirates Monitoring Center, the country’s first national facility for real-time monitoring of its integrated power network. The Center links all four UAE electricity utilities: Emirates Water and Electricity Company, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, and Etihad Water and Electricity. Powered by Siemens’ Spectrum Power platform, the Center monitors key indicators across the national grid, including system load, frequency, voltage and power exchange. It will support outage management, emergency response, operational planning and resilience studies for a power network with around 48 GW of installed generation capacity. The facility is also expected to use artificial intelligence for scenario planning, predictive analysis and future system modelling. Siemens said the project supports renewable energy integration, future cross-border interconnections and the development of a smarter and more resilient national grid.

(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 13-Jul-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has inaugurated the Emirates Monitoring Center, a national facility designed to provide real-time monitoring of the country’s integrated electricity network.

The Center is the first facility of its kind in the UAE and connects all four of the country’s electricity utilities: Emirates Water and Electricity Company, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, and Etihad Water and Electricity.

Powered by Siemens’ Spectrum Power platform, the Emirates Monitoring Center represents a major step in strengthening the resilience, reliability and digital transformation of the UAE’s power infrastructure.

The Center provides real-time oversight of the national power network, which has an installed generation capacity of approximately 48 gigawatts. It continuously monitors key operating indicators including system load, frequency, voltage and power exchange.

The facility also supports the flow of operational data across the Emirates National Grid corridor, which spans from Abu Dhabi to the Northern Emirates.

In addition to real-time monitoring, the Emirates Monitoring Center will support outage management and emergency response. It will serve as a first point of situational awareness during system disturbances or generation outages, helping operators coordinate responses more effectively.

The Center will also conduct operational planning and resilience studies to strengthen grid reliability and support informed decision-making. Its work will be carried out in close cooperation with EWEC, DEWA, SEWA and Etihad Water and Electricity as the UAE’s energy system continues to evolve.

His Excellency Eng Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, said the opening marks an important milestone for the UAE’s power sector.

“The Center represents the nucleus of the UAE’s national power network, providing comprehensive, real-time visibility across the country’s electricity system through world-class monitoring technologies developed by Siemens,” said Al Olama.

He added that the facility will strengthen the resilience of the UAE’s energy infrastructure and improve the country’s ability to anticipate, manage and respond to operational challenges.

The Center is also expected to use artificial intelligence capabilities to support scenario planning, predictive analysis and future system modelling. These tools are intended to enable smarter and more proactive decision-making for the national grid.

Helmut von Struve, Chief Executive Officer of Siemens in the UAE and the Middle East, said the Emirates Monitoring Center is the country’s first unified platform providing a single real-time view of the national power grid.
