TV and radio presenter Gaby Roslin supports Samaritans’ Small Talk Saves Lives campaign

EWELL, UK, 13-Nov-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — TV and radio presenter Gaby Roslin is all aboard Samaritans’ Small Talk Saves Lives campaign, letting commuters know they have all the experience they need to save a life.

The campaign, launched by Samaritans in partnership with Network Rail, British Transport Police (BTP) and the wider rail industry, aims to prevent suicide by encouraging the public to notice if someone may be at risk and start a conversation. They can also alert a member of staff or dial 999.

Gaby showed her support at London’s King’s Cross station, where she voiced a special message over the tannoy and chatted to travellers about what they can do to support the initiative.

The BBC London host said: “It’s great to see how much the public are getting behind this campaign. Suicidal thoughts are very often temporary and a simple phrase like, ‘I can’t believe this weather’, can be all it takes to interrupt someone’s suicidal thinking.

“Just knowing that is helpful, because any one of us could have the chance to save a life. At the same time, the message is that if you are struggling, people do care, they will be kind and help is out there. If anyone feels they have nowhere to turn, Samaritans services are there for free 24 hours a day.”
