TÜV Rheinland joins the IP500 Alliance as partner for the worldwide certification of IP500 products

Cologne / Berlin, 30-4-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — TÜV Rheinland, a worldwide leader in Testing, Training, Inspection, Consulting & Certification and IP500 Alliance announced that TÜV Rheinland has joined the IP500 Alliance as a partner for the worldwide certification of IP500 products. IP500 is the global wireless standard / platform for security and safety applications in the IoT (Internet of Things) landscape. It allows to connect fully interoperable various security and safety devices (e.g. like smoke, intrusion or HVAC sensors & actuators) in Building Automation applications. By providing a single chip solution (SoC), the IP500 Standard is the only standard supporting international safety regulations in an IPv6 based wireless sensor network at a low price tag.

The certification of all IP500 wireless modules and OEM products is a key element of the IP500 strategy. The experience of TÜV Rheinland and its worldwide network of laboratories will guaranty full interoperability of all IP500 OEM products around the world. Therefore, it is a huge step forward for the IP500 Alliance to have TÜV Rheinland as a partner in this field – said Helmut Adamski, CEO and Chairman of IP500 Alliance.

This partnership will also support the IP500 members in applying the interoperable technologies (supplied by the partner CoreNetiX) that create opportunities for improved efficiency, faster time to market, which empower IP500 OEMs to launch their products in a local (worldwide) marketplace on time.

Stefan Kischka, Vice President Electrical and Global Business Field Manager of TÜV Rheinland, said: “We are proud to become an active partner of the IP500 Alliance and we are passionate about helping to define a certification standard for the IP500 products globally. By providing broad and global testing expertise into the IP500 domain, TÜV Rheinland can provide a one-stop-shopping for certification services as part of its drive to deliver a positive contribution to a fully interoperable IoT future of almost every smart device.”

In the last decade interoperability combined with wireless low-power network performance in an IoT application were the main issues across the world. IP500 and TÜV Rheinland open new products and business opportunity for IP500 OEMs and its partners and enable the real IoT wave in the marketplace.
