TotalEnergies and Google Sign 15-Year Renewable Power Agreement to Supply 1.5 TWh of Clean Energy to Ohio Data Centers

(IN BRIEF) TotalEnergies and Google have signed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement for 1.5 TWh of renewable electricity from the Montpelier solar farm in Ohio to power Google’s local data centers. The agreement strengthens the companies’ shared commitment to advancing clean energy deployment within regional grids. Google’s Will Conkling emphasized the importance of strengthening reliable, carbon-free energy infrastructure, while TotalEnergies’ Stéphane Michel highlighted how the collaboration supports both companies’ sustainability and growth strategies. The solar project forms part of TotalEnergies’ 10 GW renewable portfolio in the U.S., complementing similar partnerships with major corporations such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Air Liquide.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 12-Nov-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — TotalEnergies and Google have entered into a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) under which TotalEnergies will supply Google with 1.5 terawatt-hours (TWh) of certified renewable electricity from its Montpelier solar farm in Ohio. The project, which is nearing completion, will feed clean power into the PJM grid system — the largest regional transmission organization in the United States — and directly support the operations of Google’s data centers in the region.

This long-term partnership underscores a shared vision between TotalEnergies and Google to drive decarbonization across digital infrastructure. It reflects Google’s commitment to bringing new carbon-free energy online in the regions where its data centers operate and TotalEnergies’ strategy to provide customized renewable energy solutions that meet the growing power needs of data-driven industries.

“Strengthening the grid by deploying more reliable and clean energy is crucial for supporting the digital infrastructure that businesses and individuals depend on,” said Will Conkling, Director of Clean Energy and Power at Google. “Our collaboration with TotalEnergies will help power our data centers and the broader economic growth of Ohio.”

Stéphane Michel, President Gas, Renewables & Power at TotalEnergies, highlighted the significance of the deal: “We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with Google with this agreement to supply renewable electricity to their data centers in Ohio. This agreement illustrates TotalEnergies’ ability to meet the growing energy demands of major tech companies by leveraging its integrated portfolio of renewable and flexible assets. It also contributes to achieving our target of 12% profitability in the power sector.”

The Montpelier solar project forms part of TotalEnergies’ expanding 10-gigawatt (GW) renewable energy portfolio in the United States. The company’s assets include a mix of onshore solar, wind, and battery storage projects — with 1 GW located in the PJM market in the U.S. Northeast and 4 GW in the ERCOT market in Texas. The agreement further consolidates TotalEnergies’ position as a key renewable supplier to global corporations seeking to accelerate their energy transition.

This PPA with Google adds to TotalEnergies’ growing list of renewable energy collaborations with leading international companies, including Data4, STMicroelectronics, Saint-Gobain, Air Liquide, Amazon, LyondellBasell, Merck, Microsoft, Orange and Sasol. Together, these agreements reflect TotalEnergies’ integrated approach to developing large-scale, flexible, and reliable clean power systems for global industries.
