Three legal trainees join Co-op’s Sheffield-based Legal business

MANCHESTER, 20-Oct-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Co-op’s Sheffield-based Legal business has awarded contracts to three legal trainees who will join the team as part of its trainee solicitor scheme this year.

They will rotate across the different legal practice areas including Probate Operations, Trusts, Employment Law and Family Law to complete their two-year programme. From 2019, there will be two intakes of Co-optrainees across its Legal business in March and September. Co-op Legal is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Co-op’s Estate planning business has expanded its team with the appointment of 11 Estate Planning Consultants.*

The new field-based team will support the business’ Estate Planning Associates in providing local communities with later life and inheritance tax planning expertise including guidance on Wills, Protective Trusts, Lasting Power of Attorney (LPAs) and pre-paid funeral plans. Through its estate planning team Co-op is able to offer face-to-face advice across England and Wales. Community talks are held locally to offer advice and the team also visits individuals in their home to discuss personal needs.

Chris Dingley, Director at Co-op Estate Planning in Sheffield, says:

“The additional consultant roles have been created to support increased demand and interest in later life planning from our members and local communities and we are aiming to have an 80-strong team of consultants by the end of the year.

“Often people put off later life planning because it can appear too complicated, but we always aim to explain everything in the simplest way, avoiding jargon. Making sure that you have plans in place can protect you and your family now and throughout later-life, as well as taking care of your loved ones when you are gone.”
