The seventh BASF and Volkswagen “Science Award Electrochemistry” opens for submissions

(PRESS RELEASE) LUDWIGSHAFEN / WOLFSBURG, 15-May-2019 — /EuropaWire/ — BASF and Volkswagen opens application for the seventh “Science Award Electrochemistry”. Scientists and researchers of excellence from all over the world may apply until June 30, 2019 online at www.science-award.com. Participation conditions, procedure and selection process are all available in the website. Submissions will be assessed by a jury comprising experts from BASF, Volkswagen and representatives from the scientific community. The award ceremony takes place in Wolfsburg on November 12, 2019.

The international “Science Award Electrochemistry” has been held since 2012 and is intended for scientists working in academic research all over the world. It supports excellent scientific and engineering achievements and intends to provide fresh impetus to the development of high-efficiency energy storage devices. The winner of this price receives €50,000.

BASF and Volkswagen would like to motivate excellent researchers from the worlds of science and business to commit even more to the field of electrochemistry and their applications. The current energy storage systems still provide a considerable potential for improvement in terms of performance and costs to make them even more appealing for energy and mobility supply customers. The research and application of electrochemical processes in the fields of energy storage, energy converters and storage systems are an essential foundation for the development of future energy storage systems. These technologies are crucial for supplying regenerative energy in a way which preserves the climate and its resources, as well as for driving concepts of the future such as electromobility.
