The reorganization of Baltik Vairas German unit spurs a boost in efficiency

Šiauliai, Lithuania, 5-2-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — Baltik Vairas, the Northern European developer and manufacturer of bicycles and e-bikes, is going through a substantial structural reorganization which has already had an impact on the overall efficiency of business processes. Due to the reorganization some important changes have been implemented in the structure of top management – General Manager of a German Unit, Andre Fuchs, departed from the company on the 30th of January, 2015 and Peter Jensby, CEO, additionally takes over the responsibilities of the General Manager of BV-Cycles (Germany).

The boost in efficiency is reflected in the first quarter (financial year starts on the 1st of September) results, which showed 24% year-on-year increase in sales to EUR 10 M and a soar in EBITDA by EUR 0.6 M. The company now commits itself to keep this positive trend and, with this goal in mind, Baltik Vairas is about to implement some further organizational changes.

In order to strengthen the development processes, two new Development Managers are being recruited. Furthermore, Customer Care and Service Centre in Germany is being provided with new resources to strengthen its quality of operations and coordination.

“The team of Baltik Vairas and BV Cycles hopes these strategic decisions will result in an ever closer cooperation between the customers, Baltik Vairas unit in Lithuania and BV-Cycles in Germany and bring about synergies in developing new processes, new ideas and more aligned business culture” – states the CEO of Baltik Vairas, Peter Jensby.

According to the CEO, tangible change in Baltik Vairas business practices is already taking place. Firstly, the development of a standardization program has resulted in a reduction of components by 45%, and at the same time lower quality components are removed from production process. Secondly, new requirements for suppliers are put in place. As a result, throughout the year of 2015 all suppliers for Baltik Vairas must present their quality certificates and perform quality inspections regularly. Thirdly, starting from 2015, Baltik Vairas will have more than ever TÜV certified bikes in their product portfolio.

The total sales of the company during the last financial year amounted to EUR 49.1 M. During the same period, Baltic Vairas has produced and sold ca 300 000 bikes and e-bikes.
