Madrid, 21-10-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — The CEM, under the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, is responsible for the custody and preservation of national standards of measurement and calibration.

The Metrology Laboratory of CLH has been appointed “Collaborating Laboratory” by the Spanish Centre of Metrology (CEM). This will enable the use of laboratory facilities for performing joint calibrations, verifications and tests of oil products measuring equipment.

The Managing Director of the CLH Group, Salvador Guillén, and the General Secretary and ex officio President of the CEM, Begoña Cristeto, have signed today the collaboration agreement at a ceremony held in Madrid.

Through this agreement, the Metrology Laboratory of CLH widens the scope of activities, providing services to the CEM, thus becoming its only reference laboratory for metrology activities in the field of oil products, apart from performing its usual certification activities for both the Company and other firms.

The agreement also involves CLH’s commitment to participate in reinforcing the country’s metrology infrastructure, cooperating with the CEM in joint R&D projects, exchanging experiences and metrology information with the other associated laboratories and collaborators, and participating in international forums.

The Metrology Laboratory of the CLH Group, located in Loeches (Madrid), is responsible for verifying, calibrating and adjusting the measuring equipment of oil products. This centre, the only metrology laboratory in Spain that is accredited by the Spanish Accreditation Body (ENAC) in the field, also designs, develops, and manufactures most of the equipment used for carrying out these controls, and have patented several systems.

The CEM, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, is responsible for metrology organisational structure in Spain. Among other tasks, this centre is competent for the custody and preservation of national measuring standards, the development of a Spanish calibration service, the performance of State functions in national metrological control, carrying out R&D projects in the metrological field, and the training of specialists in metrology.
