The Fundación IBERDROLA and Fundación Carolina to grant ten scholarships for Master’s degrees in energy and environment

Madrid, Spain, 14-1-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — The Fundación IBERDROLA is collaborating with the Fundación Carolina on its Training Programme Open in new window., which has the goal of improving higher education on the American continent and at the same time promoting the internationalisation of Spanish universities.

The support provided by the Fundación IBERDROLA will allow to grant ten scholarships for Master’s degrees in areas linked to energy and the environment, under the auspices of the 14th edition of the call launched by the Fundación Carolina, corresponding to the 2014-2015 academic year.

These scholarships will be open to graduates from any country belonging to the Ibero-American Community of Nations that are not residents of Spain.

To be more specific, scholarships will be awarded for the following degrees: Master in Fuel Energies for the Future at the Autonomous University of Madrid; Master in Integrating Renewable Energies in the Electricity System at the University of the Basque Country; Master in Energy Technology for Sustainable Development at the Polytechnic University of Valencia; University Master in Renewable Energies in Electricity Systems at the Carlos III University in Madrid; and University Master in Energy Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

The selection process will include the participation of academic assessment committees and independent professional experts. It will be guided by the criterion of academic excellence and special importance will be attached to candidates’ resumés.

Commitment to training
One of the main areas of action of the Fundación IBERDROLA is the creation and sharing of knowledge to promote the development of a sustainable energy model and this means there is a need for professionals that are capable of spearheading this transformation.

With this goal in mind, the institution set up a Scholarship Programme that has already enabled over 200 young people to complete postgraduate studies at universities in Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States. Since it was launched in 2010, the Fundación IBERDROLA has doubled the number of grants awarded. In the last year, a further 700 young people were given the opportunity to receive training in the IBERDROLA Group as interns.

The Fundación IBERDROLA currently has an open call for candidates wishing to complete Master’s studies in the fields of energy and the environment in the United States. These scholarships are open to graduates of Spanish or U.S. nationality wishing to complete Master’s studies at the University of Rochester or the University of Maine in the academic year 2014-2015.

The Fundación IBERDROLA scholarship programme also includes scholarships for Master’s degree studies in Energy and the Environment in Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States, Research Grants and Training and Research Scholarships in Restoration at the Prado Museum. In the current academic year, 72 young people are completing Master’s level studies at Spanish, British and U.S. universities with its support.
