The creators behind the 2014 Nobel Prize event

STOCKHOLM, 9-12-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — Chef Klas Lindberg and confectioner Daniel Roos have created this year’s Nobel menu and the Royal Swedish Ballet will be in charge of the entertainment at the Nobel Banquet. They are among the creators behind the event that the 2014 Nobel Laureates will experience when they sit down at the table of honour in the Blue Hall of Stockholm City Hall on the Nobel Day.

After two months in the limelight, the 2014 Nobel Laureates are finally arriving in Stockholm to participate in a week filled with activities, culminating in the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony and the Nobel Banquet on December 10. At the award ceremony, members of the respective prize-awarding institutions will hold speeches presenting the Laureates, who will then receive their medals and diplomas. Soprano Elin Rombo, Court Singer, and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra will provide musical interludes during the award ceremony under the baton of conductor B. Tommy Andersson.

The ceremony will be followed by the Nobel Banquet at Stockholm City Hall, where 1,250 guests will enjoy a three-course Nobel menu composed by chef Klas Lindberg and confectioner Daniel Roos, both Gold Medallists at the Culinary Olympics as members of the 2012 Swedish Culinary Team. The menu was developed in close collaboration with the Nobel Foundation’s gastronomic advisors Fredrik Eriksson and Gert Klötzke as well as the Chef de Cuisine of Stadshusrestauranger (City Hall Restaurants), Gunnar Eriksson. The evening’s divertissement will be perfomed by the Royal Swedish Ballet and will highlight some of Sweden’s absolutely foremost dancers and choreographers. Ballet Director and Artistic Manager of The Royal Swedish Ballet is Johannes Öhman and Production Manager of the divertissement is Ann-Christin Danhammar.

This year Helén Magnusson, chief florist at Hässelby Blommor, has created the floral arrangements at both the Concert Hall and the City Hall. At the Nobel Banquet, the theme of the decorations will be Bridges of Stockholm.

During the Nobel Week, December 6-12, the Laureates will also participate in a number of other events, where they will meet school pupils and university-level students, researchers and representatives of the Swedish cultural and scientific community. The Laureates will give press conferences and hold their Nobel Lectures under the auspices of the prize-awarding institutions, attend the Nobel Prize Concert on December 8 and videotape the TV program Nobel Minds on December 11.

On December 9, the Nobel Week Dialogue is being organised for the third time. It is a full-day seminar attended by about 1 300 people. This year it will cover various perspectives on ageing. One of the highlights of the programme will be a conversation on immortality between Nobel Laureate Eric Kandel and world-famous visual artist Jeff Koons.

The Nobel Creations exhibition at the Nobel Museum in Stockholm explores the quality that Nobel Laureates, artists and other creators have in common: creativity. Here the 2014 Laureates will encounter their own work as interpreted by students at Beckmans College of Design and the Royal College of Music, while themselves each donating one artefact to the Museum’s growing collection.
