Thales Expands Cloud Application Security With Imperva WAF on Amazon CloudFront

(IN BRIEF) Thales has launched Imperva for AWS, making its enterprise-grade web application firewall available through AWS Marketplace as a SaaS offering. The solution protects web applications, APIs and client-side code against common cyber threats and malicious bot activity. It is built on key AWS services and deploys natively on Amazon CloudFront. Thales said Imperva for AWS keeps traffic within the AWS network, enabling protection at scale with zero added latency. It also provides centralised visibility and policy management across AWS and multi-cloud environments. The launch responds to rising automated traffic and API-focused attacks. The 2026 Thales Bad Bot Report found that automated traffic accounts for 53% of all internet requests, while 27% of bot attacks target APIs directly.

(PRESS RELEASE) LA DÉFENSE, 4-Aug-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Thales has announced the availability of Imperva for AWS, bringing its enterprise-grade web application firewall to AWS Marketplace as a software-as-a-service offering.

The solution is designed to help organisations protect web applications and APIs against common cyber threats and malicious bot activity in Amazon Web Services environments.

Built on key AWS services, Imperva for AWS uses Amazon CloudFront, AWS’s fully managed content delivery network, to simplify deployment while strengthening application security.

Thales said the offering provides web application, API and bot protection for AWS environments while reducing operational complexity through centralised security visibility and policy management across AWS and multi-cloud deployments.

The launch comes as automated and bot-driven traffic continues to increase.

The 2026 Thales Bad Bot Report found that automated traffic now accounts for 53% of all internet requests, while 27% of bot attacks target APIs directly.

Thales said attackers are increasingly bypassing user interfaces and operating at machine speed, creating a need for application security that can keep pace without adding complexity for security and operations teams.

Imperva WAF delivers enterprise-grade protection natively on Amazon CloudFront.

Unlike legacy content delivery network web application firewalls that route traffic outside the cloud provider’s network, Imperva WAF is deployed directly on Amazon CloudFront.

This keeps traffic within the AWS network and delivers protection with zero added latency.

The solution is available through AWS Marketplace with pay-as-you-go pricing.

Organisations using Imperva for AWS can benefit from protection for web applications, APIs and client-side code.

The offering also supports simplified deployment through Amazon CloudFront, centralised visibility and policy management across AWS and multi-cloud environments, faster onboarding, reduced operational complexity and application security that scales with cloud growth.

Tim Chang, Vice President, Application Security at Thales, said Imperva for AWS makes it easier for customers to protect applications and APIs with enterprise-grade security that works out of the box.

He said deployment on Amazon CloudFront’s 750+ Points of Presence enables Thales to keep all traffic within the AWS network while delivering protection at scale with zero added latency.

Imperva for AWS is designed to support organisations operating modern applications, including those in highly regulated sectors.

By combining enterprise-grade protection with simplified deployment and centralised management, the solution enables organisations to strengthen application security while maintaining the agility needed for cloud innovation.

Thales said Imperva WAF represents the latest advancement in its work with AWS.

Customers can begin using Imperva WAF through AWS Marketplace.

Through the launch of Imperva for AWS, Thales is expanding its application security capabilities for cloud environments and helping organisations address rising risks linked to APIs, bots and web-based attacks while simplifying security operations across cloud and multi-cloud infrastructure.
