(IN BRIEF) Thales has committed to advancing gender equality by adopting the seven “Women’s Empowerment Principles” set by the United Nations Global Compact and UN Women. The company has made significant strides since launching its Gender Diversity Action Plan in 2017, including increasing the number of women in leadership roles and ensuring greater gender diversity on Management Committees. By the end of 2023, women held 20.4% of leadership positions, with 86.8% of Management Committees including at least three women. (PRESS RELEASE) LA DÉFENSE, 15-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Thales has reinforced its commitment to promoting gender equality and diversity by endorsing the United Nations Global Compact and UN Women’s “Women’s Empowerment Principles.” These seven principles aim to enhance the role of women in business and advance gender equality across the corporate world.

Patrice Caine, Chairman & CEO of Thales, emphasized the importance of creating equal opportunities for women in careers related to science and mathematics from an early age. “We must continue to foster environments where women can pursue careers in these fields, ensuring that they have the same opportunities as men, and providing them with a safe, inclusive, and thriving workplace,” Caine said. While acknowledging the company’s progress, he noted that there is still much work to be done to achieve gender equality at all levels within Thales.

Since 2017, Thales has been implementing its Gender Diversity Action Plan, which focuses on increasing the recruitment of women in all fields, offering tailored mentoring programs to support their growth, and ensuring more women are promoted to leadership roles. As of the end of 2023, women held 20.4% of leadership positions at Thales, up from 16.5% in 2018. The company also achieved a significant increase in gender diversity at its Management Committees, with 86.8% now including at least three women, compared to 49% in 2018.

Looking ahead, Thales aims to have women occupy 22.5% of leadership roles by 2026 and to have at least 75% of its Management Committees composed of at least four women. More details on Thales’ gender equality and diversity initiatives can be found in the company’s 2023-2024 Integrated Report.
