Terna ranks high in Dow Jones Sustainability Index for 5th year in a row

Rome, Italy, 03-10-2013 — /EuropaWire/ — Fifth consecutive confirmation for Terna in the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Index and fourth double presence in the “World” and “Europe” baskets: this is the result from the annual review conducted by the Swiss rating agency RobecoSAM and published on-line from this morning.

Terna’s continued presence in both indices with scores among the highest in the Electric Utilities sector recognizes the Company’s constant commitment to sustainable management and represents an indicator for investors of its value creation capability, also in the medium-to-long term.

This is confirmed by the growing number of investors focusing on ethical issues, who now represent 12.6% of Terna’s share capital.

This year 333 companies were selected out of 2,500 in the “World” index and 177 out of 600 in the Europe index, of which only 13 were Italian. The analysis by RobecoSAM involves a detailed assessment of corporate systems for the governance of risks and opportunities related to the social and environmental impacts of companies. The strictness of the assessment criteria resulted in the exclusion this year of 47 companies that were previously included.

The composition of the most prestigious international stock exchange sustainability indexes is reviewed once a year by RobecoSAM based on the results of the assessment, which evaluates the sustainability performance of enterprises with the highest level of capitalization.

In addition to its presence in the DJSI, Terna is included in the international indexes FTSE4GOOD (Global and Europe), Axia (Ethical and CSR), ECPI (Ethical Global, Euro, EMU), MSCI (Global and Europe Sustainability), ASPI Eurozone, Ethibel (Excellence, Sustainability Europe), Vigeo (World and Europe), and in the Italian indexes FTSE ECPI Italia SRI Benchmark and Italia SRI Leaders, which are compiled solely on the basis of companies listed in the Italian Stock Exchange.
