Telstra’s muru-D Labs and Nokia Open Network APIs on Network as Code Platform for Developers

(IN BRIEF) Telstra’s muru-D Labs and Nokia have teamed up to expose a curated set of Telstra network APIs through Nokia’s Network as Code developer portal, offering both live and simulated endpoints. The collaboration addresses enterprise use cases—event traffic management, network observability and service prioritization—and will extend to fixed-network integrations. A forthcoming hackathon will let developers prototype in a sandbox before production deployment. This partnership supports Telstra’s Connected Future 30 strategy by productizing network capabilities, while Nokia’s API security and multi-partner ecosystem accelerate the rollout of programmable connectivity services.

(PRESS RELEASE) ESPOO, 17-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Telstra’s innovation arm, muru-D Labs, and Nokia have forged a new collaboration that grants developers secure, sandboxed access to Telstra’s network APIs via Nokia’s Network as Code platform and developer portal. This initiative empowers developers to build, test and deploy intelligent applications that leverage Telstra’s advanced connectivity in both live and simulated environments.

The partnership will target real-world enterprise scenarios such as optimizing traffic management for large-scale events, enhancing network observability, and prioritizing mission-critical services. It will also explore fixed-network integrations by surfacing APIs from Nokia’s service orchestration software already deployed within Telstra’s infrastructure.

Kim Krogh Andersen, Group Executive Product & Technology at Telstra, noted, “Aligned with our Connected Future 30 strategy and ‘Network as a Product’ vision, this collaboration allows us to package sophisticated network capabilities as easily consumable services, opening fresh business models and value streams.” He added, “By inviting developers to tap directly into our network, we’re accelerating innovation at the core of the tech ecosystem.”

Developers will soon have the opportunity to participate in a local hackathon, gaining hands-on access to live APIs alongside a full-featured sandbox. This effort builds on Telstra and Nokia’s long-standing alliance and underpins Telstra’s goal of delivering a software-defined, programmable network.

Shkumbin Hamiti, Vice President and Head of Network Monetization Platform at Nokia, commented, “Our Network as Code platform simplifies secure, on-demand access to programmable network functions. By deepening Telstra’s integration into developer communities, we’ll surface insights that shape the next wave of network-powered applications.”

Nokia’s multi-tier API security, combined with its growing ecosystem of over 50 operator, hyperscaler and solution-provider partners, ensures that operators like Telstra can rapidly provision and monetize network services. As enterprises and industries increasingly adopt edge, IoT and AI solutions, this collaboration paves the way for smarter, more responsive applications underpinned by performant network APIs.
