(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 9-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Telefónica has announced a substantial €3 million donation through its Foundation to aid communities affected by the severe DANA weather system that caused widespread flooding in Spain. In a swift response, Telefónica has also deployed extensive human and technical resources to restore connectivity, achieving 94% recovery in fixed-line services and over 92% in mobile networks.

Since the disaster, Telefónica’s Corporate Volunteering Program, in collaboration with organizations like the Red Cross, has mobilized volunteers to provide immediate, hands-on support. This effort includes cleanup operations at schools and public spaces and the distribution of essential supplies, facilitated by an 18-ton truck loaded with critical items.

The campaign, launched under the #MovilizadosPorLaDana initiative, has united Telefónica employees in the mission, leading to the rapid collection of 19 pallets of essential supplies within 36 hours. These items were sent to Torrent, Valencia, where local social organizations will ensure distribution to impacted communities.

Additionally, the Telefónica Foundation is coordinating with the Spanish Association of Foundations and third-sector partners to maximize support for those affected. This comprehensive approach showcases Telefónica’s commitment to assisting communities in times of crisis.
