TedxExeter’s Sixth Annual Ideas Festival Sponsored by University of Exeter

This is TEDxExeter’s 6th annual ideas festival.

EXETER, 21-Apr-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Inspiring ideas, which aim to turn hope into action, will be at the centre of a publicly-accessible event this month at TEDxExeter, sponsored by the University of Exeter.

TEDx is the independently-organised local arm of TED, which is committed to the principle of “ideas worth spreading” and has a committed following worldwide, with millions watching their YouTube videos on a broad range of topics.

This is TEDxExeter’s 6th annual ideas festival. Tickets for the 900-strong event sold out in minutes, and so far videos of their talks have been watched over 13 million times.

This year’s day-long event is themed Hope, and invited exceptional speakers will share ideas to turn hope into action on a range of topics.

Anyone can join in by organising a viewing party for free. More than 80 viewing events are already planned.

TEDxExeter will take place at the Northcott Theatre, on the University’s Streatham Campus, on 21 April. Events will be live-streamed to the University’s Alumni Auditorium, allowing hundreds of school children from the region access to the outstanding speakers.

The University community has embraced the event, with students volunteering as stewards and a number of viewing parties taking place across campuses.

Professor Sir Steve Smith, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Exeter, said: “This year’s TEDxExeter promises to be incredibly interesting and inspiring. At the University, the exchange of inspiring ideas is what we do, and we really value opportunities to support this and our lecture series, which enable us to share this experience with our community. I’d encourage everyone to get involved in this fantastic event.”

Claire Kennedy, TEDxExeter’s Licensee and Curator, said: ”We are excited to be bringing another exceptional group of speakers and performers to Exeter to share their work, vision and hope with us. Our speakers tackle some of humanity’s toughest questions, attempting to answer them with innovation, enterprise and enduring optimism. None of this would be possible without the generosity and vision of our sponsors, and we are very grateful to the University for their enthusiastic support of our events.”
