SPORT BILD Award Returns to Hamburg’s Fish Auction Hall on August 31

(IN BRIEF) Esther Sedlaczek will host the SPORT BILD Award for the first time on 31 August 2026 at Hamburg’s historic Fish Auction Hall, where around 700 guests from sports, media, business and society are expected to attend. The award ceremony, organised by SPORT BILD, Europe’s largest sports magazine, will be held for the 24th time and will honour outstanding personalities, achievements and moments from the sporting year. Sedlaczek, known as a “Sportschau” presenter, will present the trophies alongside Henning Feindt, SPORT BILD Editor-in-Chief and Editor-in-Chief of Sports for the BILD and WELT Group. She previously appeared on the SPORT BILD Award stage in 2023, when she and Bastian Schweinsteiger were honoured in the TV category for their coverage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the interviews following Germany’s elimination.

(PRESS RELEASE) BERLIN, 12-Aug-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Esther Sedlaczek will host the SPORT BILD Award for the first time on Monday, 31 August 2026, marking a premiere for the well-known “Sportschau” presenter.

The event, one of Germany’s major sports media award ceremonies, will take place at Hamburg’s historic Fish Auction Hall.

Now in its 24th edition, the SPORT BILD Award is organised by SPORT BILD, Europe’s largest sports magazine, and honours outstanding personalities, achievements and moments from the sporting year.

Around 700 guests from sports, media, business and society are expected to attend the celebration.

Sedlaczek will present the awards alongside Henning Feindt, SPORT BILD Editor-in-Chief and Editor-in-Chief of Sports for the BILD and WELT Group.

Sedlaczek said the SPORT BILD Award has been a must-attend event on the sports calendar for her for many years.

She said she is especially pleased to have the opportunity to host the ceremony herself this year, describing the award as a true institution and one of Germany’s leading sports media prizes.

The presenter is already familiar with the SPORT BILD Award stage.

In 2023, she received an award in the TV category together with Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The pair were honoured for their coverage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, including the widely discussed interviews that followed Germany’s elimination from the tournament.

Henning Feindt said Sedlaczek is the “signing of the year” for SPORT BILD.

He described her as an outstanding presenter who is quick-witted, passionate about sport and relatable, making her an ideal host for the SPORT BILD Award.

Feindt added that he looks forward to celebrating the major personalities and defining moments of the sporting year with Sedlaczek and giving them the stage they deserve.

The SPORT BILD Award has been presented since 2003.

Previous winners include major figures from German and international sport, including Franz Beckenbauer, Jürgen Klopp, Boris Becker, Michael Schumacher, Dirk Nowitzki, the Klitschko brothers and Katarina Witt.

Through the 2026 edition, SPORT BILD will once again bring together prominent names from sport, media, business and society to recognise the achievements and stories that shaped the sporting year.
