The transaction expands Sika’s distribution and geographic reach across Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, while adding manufacturing capacity that can support a new export hub for adhesives and sealants. Akkim also contributes a broad portfolio based on proprietary formulations and a strong R&D base. Sika said the acquisition will strengthen its market position, create customer synergies and support long-term growth in the adhesives and sealants segment.

(PRESS RELEASE) BAAR, 3-Sep-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Sika has completed the acquisition of Akkim, a Turkey-based global manufacturer of adhesives and sealants, strengthening its position in the sector and expanding its reach across several high-growth international markets.

The acquisition gives Sika broader distribution coverage, additional manufacturing capacity and access to Akkim’s established customer base across Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

Akkim generated net sales of approximately CHF 220 million in 2025.

Acquisition strengthens geographic reach and distribution

Akkim serves customers through an extensive and well-established distribution network focused on markets where demand for construction-related adhesives and sealants is growing rapidly.

Sika said the transaction will create new opportunities by combining the two companies’ product portfolios, distribution capabilities and market presence.

The acquisition is also expected to support Sika’s long-term expansion in adhesives and sealants by strengthening access to customers across the EMEA region and adjacent growth markets.

Expanded manufacturing capacity to support exports

Akkim brings additional production capacity that Sika expects to develop into an efficient manufacturing and export hub for adhesives and sealants.

The company said this capacity will support further growth in the segment while improving its ability to supply a broad range of customers and applications.

Akkim’s portfolio is based on proprietary formulations developed by its research and development team.

Its adhesives and sealants are used across a wide range of technologies and applications serving the construction industry.

Sika sees opportunities from complementary portfolios

Christoph Ganz, Regional Manager EMEA at Sika, said the acquisition represents an important milestone in strengthening the company’s position in adhesives and sealants.

He said combining the teams and complementary product portfolios of Sika and Akkim will create additional value for customers and open up new growth opportunities.

Ganz also welcomed Akkim employees to Sika and said the company looks forward to developing the business together.
