Siemens to Produce Wind Turbines for Two EDF Luminus Projects in Belgium

EDF Luminus has ordered nine wind turbines of the type SWT-3.2-113 for two projects.

HAMBRUG, 21-Mar-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — EDF Luminus, the second largest player in the Belgian energy market, has ordered wind turbines at Siemens Wind Power for two projects located in the Belgian municipalities of Dessel and Mol as well as in Beveren. The nine 3.2 megawatt (MW) machines of the Siemens D3 product platform will be installed at the wind projects “Sibelco” and “Katoen Natie – Loghidden City”. The customer, EDF Luminus, is mainly owned by Électricité de France (EDF) with a 63.5% stake. The wind energy order includes a service and maintenance agreement for a period of 15 years.

The two wind power plants have a combined generation capacity of 28.8 MW. The 19.2 MW Katoen Natie wind farm is located in the port of Antwerp on the territory of Beveren municipality. The 9.6 MW Sibelco wind farm is located in Dessel and Mol. Both projects will be equipped with the Siemens SWT-3.2-113 wind turbine with a rotor diameter of 113 meters and a rating of 3.2 megawatts. The nacelles of the Katoen Natie project will be mounted on towers with a hub height of 127.5m. For the Sibelco projects it is in and 99.5 meters. Turbine installation for both projects will start in October 2017.
