Siemens Makes Sinumerik CNC Portfolio Ready for EU Cyber Resilience Act Requirements

The entire Sinumerik portfolio is designed to meet the requirements of the EU Cyber Resilience Act and is therefore CRA-ready.

(IN BRIEF) Siemens has introduced a new hardware generation for its Sinumerik One CNC control system, designed to make CNC systems AI-ready while meeting higher cybersecurity requirements under the EU Cyber Resilience Act. The new platform includes upgraded NCU and PLC processors, including the NCU 1740.2 and NCU 1760.2, offering significantly increased computing power and improved communication and data processing performance. The new architecture includes a 64-bit foundation for industrial AI integration and data-driven applications, enabling machine tools to connect more easily to cloud, edge and analytics environments. This supports applications such as machining process optimisation, quality improvement and predictive maintenance. A new graphics architecture enables more advanced operator interfaces and visualisation capabilities, helping machine tool builders improve usability and reduce setup and training requirements. (PRESS RELEASE) ERLANGEN, 10-Jul-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Siemens is introducing a new hardware generation for its Sinumerik One CNC control system, designed to deliver higher computing performance, stronger cybersecurity capabilities and a technical foundation for artificial intelligence in machine tools.

The new generation addresses key technology and regulatory requirements across the manufacturing industry. With increased processing power, a modern graphics architecture and long-term cybersecurity readiness, Sinumerik One is positioned to support more connected, data-driven and secure production environments.

At the core of the new platform are updated NCU and PLC processors. The NCU 1740.2 and NCU 1760.2 models provide significantly increased computing power, improving communication and data processing performance for complex manufacturing applications.

The new generation is also supported by a PLC ASIC, a dedicated hardware component designed specifically for PLC functionality. This adds capabilities in areas such as Profinet environments while supporting long-term availability and service continuity.

In highly connected production settings, the new processor architecture is designed to enable faster and more stable data handling. It also provides additional performance reserves for demanding applications and future expansion.

Siemens has also introduced a high-performance graphics processor for Sinumerik One, enabling more advanced human-machine interface concepts. The updated graphics architecture supports intuitive operation and enhanced visualisation, allowing machine tool builders to differentiate their machines while improving usability for operators.

These improvements can help increase operational efficiency by reducing setup times and lowering training requirements for machine operators.

A key element of the new Sinumerik One generation is its 64-bit architecture. This provides the foundation for data-intensive applications and enables the integration of industrial artificial intelligence capabilities into machine tools.

For users, the AI-ready architecture makes it easier to connect machines to data-driven optimisation workflows. These can support quality improvements, machining process optimisation and predictive maintenance.

Sinumerik One also supports connectivity to cloud and edge infrastructures, which are increasingly important for industrial AI applications and advanced analytics in manufacturing.

The new hardware generation has also been designed with the EU Cyber Resilience Act in mind. As industrial systems become more connected and data usage increases, cybersecurity requirements for manufacturers and machine operators are becoming more demanding.

The EU Cyber Resilience Act establishes requirements related to product security and long-term updateability. Siemens said the new Sinumerik One hardware generation is designed to meet these requirements, with increased computing power supporting additional security mechanisms and an architecture built for long-term maintainability and system resilience.
