This digital twin includes a replica of the controller, a customer-specific DMG MORI machine tool, and the workpiece. The technology allows for significant improvements in sustainability, flexibility, and time-to-market. It helps prevent programming errors, reduces production ramp-up times (up to 40% faster), and minimizes energy consumption. Unproductive machine times are also reduced by up to 75% as testing and running-in of programs are shifted to the virtual world. The digital twin helps prevent programming errors that cause scrap and damage to the real machine.
