(PRESS RELEASE) MARTORELL, 31-MAR-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — SEAT S.A. has received the European Sport & Healthy Company 2022 award in the Gold category. The committee, made up of ACES Europe, DCH (International Organization of Human Capital Managers) and technical experts from the consultancies AON and Mindgram, has awarded the company the prize in recognition of projects related to the health and physical activity of its employees and of Spanish society in general. Notable among them were the measures taken by SEAT S.A. during the pandemic, as well as the company’s initiatives around mental health and the expansion of the CARS project.

“This award is in recognition of our Health, Safety and Emergencies team, led by Patricia Such, and the SEAT Healthy Company Scientific Committee for their impulse with the well-being of our workforce and for their contribution during one of the most challenging moments in our recent history, in which we collaborated to accelerate the social and economic recovery of Spanish society”, said Wayne Griffiths, CEO of SEAT S.A.

SEAT S.A.’s social responsibility during the pandemic

In the 2022 edition of the European Sport & Healthy Company award, the organization has highlighted, among other things, the company’s commitment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Early on, SEAT S.A. made itself available to society to combat the virus, once again demonstrating its social commitment by manufacturing masks and respirators at a time of health emergency.

When the vaccine arrived, the company donated its resources, both material and professional, to the public health system to collaborate in the vaccination process and contribute to accelerating the immunization of the largest number of people in the shortest possible time. These initiatives saved 20 million euros for the public health system. Meanwhile, within the framework of scientific research, SEAT S.A. also supported the #YoMeCorono project, led by Dr. Bonaventura Clotet.

CARS, a benchmark for health

In 2017, SEAT S.A. inaugurated CARS (Health Care and Rehabilitation Centre), a pioneering centre for advanced medicine that is fully dedicated to the health and well-being of company employees. Since then, CARS offers trauma, diagnostic imaging, gynaecology, cardiology, mental health, biomechanics, physical therapy and rehabilitation services, as well as tailored fitness programmes. Workers can access these services after an initial assessment at one of the ten medical centres that the company has. CARS, which has also opened a centre in Madrid for SEAT S.A. employees and the Volkswagen Group in Spain, registered more than 90,000 health visits in 2022.

Patricia Such, Director of Health, Safety and Emergencies at SEAT S.A. said that “we are very proud to receive this award in recognition of the company’s health strategy. In recent years we have extended our vision beyond employee healthcare, which for us is undoubtedly one of the biggest contributions we can make to our workforce, especially in current times.”

Another of the fundamental pillars for employee healthcare at SEAT S.A. revolves around mental health. The company undertakes an evaluation of the psychosocial risks associated with the job, which serves as a basis for developing preventive measures. SEAT S.A. also develops mental well-being strategies through its Psychosocial Emotional Care Service (SAEP), in which specialized psychologists answer questions from company employees 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These services are complemented by holding workshops, masterclasses and training sessions, with more than 20 annual meetings in 2022.

The commitment of SEAT S.A. to health and well-being is extended to the entire population through the work of the SEAT Healthy Company Scientific Committee (CCSES), which participates in pioneering projects with some of the main medical institutions in both the country and internationally, like the Harvard TH CHAN School of Public Health, the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, and the Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol.

European Sport and Healthy Company award

The DCH and ACES Europe created the European Sport and Healthy Company award in 2016 with the aim of certifying the efforts of companies that promote sport and health among their employees. Applicants must have a medical care department at work, exercise facilities and specific action programmes for workers in the field of health and sports. The companies awarded with the prize are asked to give an update on their project three years after receiving the award before an evaluation committee. The official award ceremony for this edition of the European Sport and Healthy Company Award will take place at the end of 2023 at the European Parliament in Brussels.
