SCTMi Mini-Compact Terminals: Schmalz’s Next-Generation Vacuum Technology Solution

Depending on the variant selected, the compact terminals control two to 16 separate vacuum circuits.

(IN BRIEF) Schmalz, a vacuum technology innovator, has introduced SCTMi mini-compact terminals, offering enhanced efficiency and flexibility for vacuum systems. These compact terminals, available in different configurations, can control two to 16 separate vacuum circuits and are smaller and lighter than their predecessors, with a reduced footprint. Their scalability allows for easy adjustment of vacuum circuits, simplifying integration and reducing installation time. The terminals feature ejector discs suitable for dynamic pick-and-place applications. An IO-Link communication interface will be available by the end of 2023, with Ethernet and valve variants coming in the first half of 2024.

(PRESS RELEASE) GLATTEN, Germany, 16-Nov-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — J. Schmalz GmbH, the market leader in vacuum automation and ergonomic handling solutions, has introduced the SCTMi mini-compact terminals, setting a new standard for efficiency and flexibility in vacuum systems.

These compact terminals, available in various configurations, can control from two to 16 separate vacuum circuits, offering a versatile solution for a range of applications. The SCTMi model is not only smaller and lighter than its predecessor but also boasts a significantly reduced footprint, making it suitable for integration directly onto grippers or moving axes.

One of the standout features of these terminals is their scalability. Users can easily adjust the number of vacuum circuits to meet changing requirements by replacing or supplementing ejector disks. This modularity streamlines integration, reducing the time needed from two days to just four hours.

Additionally, the terminals feature a user-friendly design with electrical and pneumatic control connections on the same level, simplifying installation and expansion. The Schmalz ControlRoom app, accessible via integrated NFC functionality, provides quick diagnostics and troubleshooting guidance.

The SCTMi mini-compact terminals are equipped with ejector discs based on the highly efficient SCPM compact ejectors, suitable for dynamic pick-and-place applications with short cycle times. Furthermore, these terminals will offer an IO-Link communication interface by the end of 2023, with Ethernet and valve variants becoming available in the first half of 2024.

Schmalz’s SCTMi mini-compact terminals represent a significant leap forward in vacuum technology, delivering enhanced efficiency and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of industrial operations.
