(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 23-Jul-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Schroders Greencoat has acquired a UK-based solar portfolio from METLEN Energy & Metals, strengthening its position as the largest manager of ground mount solar farms in the UK, with a total capacity of 1.9 GWp. The portfolio includes three solar PV assets in Lincolnshire, Worcestershire, and Nottinghamshire, with a combined capacity of 110 MWp, enough to power approximately 41,300 homes annually. This acquisition supports Schroders Greencoat’s commitment to sustainable energy and achieving the UK’s 2035 solar targets.

Schroders Greencoat, the renewables and energy transition infrastructure manager of Schroders Capital, has successfully acquired a UK-based solar portfolio from METLEN Energy & Metals, a multinational industrial and energy company headquartered in Greece.

This acquisition, made on behalf of one of Schroders Greencoat’s solar-focused private asset vehicles, reinforces its position as the largest manager of operating ground mount solar farms in the UK. The portfolio now totals approximately 1.9 GWp in capacity.

The newly acquired portfolio includes three operational solar PV assets: Gorse Lane in Lincolnshire, Defford in Worcestershire, and Watnall in Nottinghamshire. Combined, these assets have a capacity of approximately 110 MWp, capable of powering around 41,300 homes annually.

Lee Moscovitch, Partner at Schroders Greencoat, commented, “We are pleased to add these assets to our growing UK solar portfolio. This acquisition underscores our commitment to delivering stable and sustainable returns to our valued investors. As the renewable energy industry works towards achieving the UK Government’s ambitious 2035 solar targets, this transaction further solidifies our position as a leading player in the sector.”

Earlier this year, Schroders Greencoat also acquired Toucan Energy, the largest operational solar portfolio traded in the UK, further establishing its leadership in the renewable energy market.
