(PRESS RELEASE) SÖDERTÄLJE, 22-Aug-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — At the Elmia fair in Sweden, Scania has launched its latest innovation in transmission technology, the G38 gearbox, designed specifically to complement Scania’s legendary 770 horsepower V8 engine. This new gearbox is engineered to handle up to 3,800 Nm of torque, offering unmatched durability and performance without adding any extra weight or altering dimensions.

The G38 is the final addition to Scania’s G-series gearboxes, which first debuted in 2019. Leveraging advanced metallurgy, including high-strength steel, cog polishing, and shot peening, the G38 ensures the gearbox can withstand the extreme demands of Scania’s most powerful V8 engine. Despite its robust capabilities, the G38 maintains the same compact size and weight as its predecessor, the G33, making it an ideal choice for heavy-duty applications where space and efficiency are critical.

The gearbox is designed with fuel efficiency in mind, offering reduced friction and the ability to choose faster rear axle gearings while maintaining strong startability. This results in significant fuel savings and a smoother driving experience, especially in demanding conditions like heavy-haulage operations.

In addition to its standard configuration, the G38 can also be ordered in a Heavy Duty (HD) version, known as the G38CH. This version includes a wider planetary gear wheel, providing additional robustness for extreme road conditions where high torque is essential.
