Salzgitter AG Advances Sustainability Performance Across All EcoVadis Evaluation Areas

The company improved its overall score from 70/100 in 2025 to 78/100 in 2026, placing it among the top 8 percent of companies assessed worldwide. The result marks continued improvement since the company first began participating in the EcoVadis rating in 2023, when it achieved bronze status.

(PRESS RELEASE) SALZGITTER, 6-Aug-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Salzgitter AG has once again been recognised for its sustainability performance, receiving a silver medal in the latest EcoVadis Sustainability Rating for the second year in a row.

The steel company significantly improved its performance across all four EcoVadis evaluation categories compared with the previous year.

With an overall score of 78 out of 100 points, up from 70 points in 2025, Salzgitter AG now ranks among the top 8 percent of companies assessed worldwide.

EcoVadis evaluates companies across four key sustainability areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

In the 2026 rating, Salzgitter AG achieved improvements across every category.

In the environment category, the company scored 79 out of 100 points, compared with 75 points in 2025.

In labour and human rights, Salzgitter AG increased its score to 82 points, up from 77 points the previous year.

The company also made a notable improvement in ethics, reaching 64 points, compared with 50 points in 2025.

In sustainable procurement, Salzgitter AG achieved 80 points, a significant increase from 66 points in the previous rating.

The repeated silver medal underlines the importance of sustainability across the Salzgitter Group.

Salzgitter AG has participated in the EcoVadis assessment since 2023.

The company received bronze status in each of its first two years of participation before earning a silver medal for the first time in 2025, when it was ranked among the top 15 percent of companies evaluated.

The 2026 result confirms further progress, with Salzgitter AG improving both its overall score and its relative global ranking.

EcoVadis assesses corporate sustainability performance using a methodology based on international standards, including GRI, UNGC and ISO 26000.

Through its improved EcoVadis score, Salzgitter AG is reinforcing its sustainability profile and demonstrating measurable progress in environmental management, labour and human rights, ethical conduct and responsible procurement.
