This new partnership extends their more than 20-year collaboration.

As part of this initiative, Sainsbury’s will upgrade its checkout technology by implementing the NCR Voyix Commerce Platform, Point of Sale Solutions (POS), and Next Generation Self-Checkout systems across 22,500 checkouts in its supermarkets, convenience stores, and petrol stations. These advanced systems, powered by NCR Voyix Edge software, aim to provide innovative solutions for both customers and colleagues.

The integration of NCR Voyix cloud technology will enable Sainsbury’s to accelerate the customer journey through real-time data and analytics, utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) for sales analysis, future store performance predictions, colleague productivity, and cash management.

Key features of the new platform include the ability for colleagues to approve transactions remotely via tablet, speeding up the checkout process and enhancing the overall shopping experience. The AI-powered next-generation self-checkout systems will also offer personalized promotions tailored to individual customers.
