Safran Electronics & Defense and IGG Inaugurate Advanced Defense Facility in Abu Dhabi

(IN BRIEF) Safran Electronics & Defense and International Golden Group have launched their Vision for Optronics & Navigation joint venture in Abu Dhabi, which will focus on R&D and the manufacturing of advanced military technology, particularly optronics and navigation systems. The new center will provide crucial support to the UAE Armed Forces, contribute to the local economy, and support the country’s defense industrial growth.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 14-Feb-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Safran Electronics & Defense and International Golden Group (IGG) have officially inaugurated their new Vision for Optronics & Navigation facility in the Tawazun Industrial Park, Abu Dhabi, UAE. This advanced center marks the culmination of a longstanding partnership between the two companies and is poised to become a key player in the UAE’s defense sector. The facility will focus on providing critical support in optronics and inertial navigation technologies for the UAE Armed Forces, contributing to the nation’s military readiness and defense capabilities.

Spanning over 800 square meters (8,600 sq. ft.), the new site features modern, flexible facilities, including cleanrooms and high-tech industrial machinery. The center is set to generate skilled job opportunities, stimulating local economic development and fortifying the UAE’s defense sector.

Currently, Vision is providing vital local support and maintenance for sighting systems used by the UAE Army in Leclerc tanks and other armored vehicles. This joint initiative also contributes to Safran Electronics & Defense’s long-term strategy of establishing a significant local presence and implementing a comprehensive technology transfer program aligned with the goals of Abu Dhabi’s Economic Vision 2030.
