Saab Unveils Deployable Giraffe 1X Radar Configuration for Swift Battlefield Operations

(IN BRIEF) Saab has introduced a new configuration for its Giraffe 1X radar, known as the Deployment Set, which offers enhanced transportability, rapid relocation, and quick operational readiness. The innovative radar system, showcased at DSEI 2023, caters to the needs of modern battlefields and scenarios where airborne threats from various directions pose imminent risks to fixed installations. The Giraffe 1X Deployment Set is a compact and robust, software-based, lightweight 3D AESA radar, boasting a small footprint and an expansive search volume of 75 km. This configuration is suitable for urgent operations with limited setup possibilities, making it an adaptable solution for both mobile and fixed installations. The radar offers commanders air defense target data, drone detection capabilities, and alerts for rockets, artillery, and mortar threats, all while continuously receiving software upgrades to counter evolving challenges.
