  • Opening ceremony today in West Oxfordshire

Kencot Hill, England, 5-11-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — RWE Supply & Trading today announces the successful connection of the 37MWp solar power plant at Kencot Hill to the UK grid. The solar park has been constructed and commissioned by global downstream company Conergy. Upon ROC (Renewables Obligation Certificate) accreditation by the UK regulator Ofgem, Kencot Hill will be sold to Foresight Solar Fund Limited, a LSE listed fund managed by Foresight Group. Conergy will continue to operate and maintain the plant after the transfer of ownership. Today, a joint opening ceremony celebrated the technical launch of Kencot Hill in September this year.

Built on a disused airfield at Kencot Hill, close to Burford in West Oxfordshire, the new power plant is producing enough electricity to supply 10,000 homes in the local area. When compared to average conventionally generated electricity in the UK, Kencot Hill’s electricity output will help to reduce CO2 emissions by 16,000 tons per year.
