Rolls-Royce closes sale of its North American nuclear services business to Westinghouse Electric Company

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 3-Feb-2020 — /EuropaWire/ — Rolls-Royce announces that it has completed the sale of its North American nuclear services business to Westinghouse Electric Company, a leading global nuclear business with a strong presence in North America.

The recent clearance from regulatory authorities follows the announcement of the transaction made on 26 September 2019.

The sale is part of Rolls-Royce’s drive to streamline the Group and focus on meeting the vital power needs of its customers.

Rolls-Royce’s civil nuclear services businesses in the US and Canada plus its sites at Mondragon, France, and Gateshead, UK, which are currently part of its Power Systems business unit are included in the transaction.

The transaction does not include its instrumentation and controls business based in Grenoble, France, which remains under review. The same also does not include its UK nuclear new build operations or small modular reactor activities, which will continue contributing to the provision of low carbon power for the UK.

Rolls-Royce’s business in Grenoble, France is the leader in the global nuclear instrumentation and controls sector. Furthermore, the unit provides services to UK’s newly built and existing power stations, as it also has two major contracts for Hinkley Point C supplying back up power systems and heat exchangers.
