(PRESS RELEASE) DÜSSELDORF, 19-Feb-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Rheinmetall has been awarded a significant contract by the Bundeswehr to provide logistical support for the relocation of military forces both within Germany and for international deployments. The framework agreement, valued at up to €260 million, was signed with the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Infrastructure, Environmental Protection, and Services (BAIUDBw) and will remain in effect for an initial three years, with the possibility of two one-year extensions through to 2029.

This contract not only covers regular military redeployment but also includes support in national defense and alliance defense situations. Through this agreement, Rheinmetall is expanding its services to include the logistical coordination of military redeployment, marking an important extension to its portfolio.

Germany’s strategic position in Europe makes it a vital logistical hub for NATO and EU defense operations, underscoring the country’s importance in collective defense efforts. As part of the Bundeswehr’s “Operationsplan Deutschland,” Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH is set to be the first industrial partner tasked with establishing and managing holding areas—referred to as Convoy Support Centres (CSCs)—as well as assembly areas along military convoy routes.

Dr. Deniz Akitürk, CEO of Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH, commented on the deal, saying, “We are thrilled to expand our capabilities in providing logistical support to armed forces, further cementing our role in this crucial sector.”

Rheinmetall’s responsibilities extend beyond the Bundeswehr, as the company will also support allied forces, including NATO, UN, EU, and Partnership for Peace nations. The corporation’s services at these areas include providing space, managing accommodation, sanitary and catering facilities, operating shopping areas, fuel stations, energy supply, waste disposal, and ensuring security.
