(PRESS RELEASE) DÜSSELDORF, 9-Aug-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Rheinmetall has been awarded a contract by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence to deliver eight additional Forward Surgical Team (FST) stations, bolstering the medical capabilities of Ukraine’s armed forces. This order, part of Germany’s “Ertüchtigungsinitiative” aimed at strengthening Ukrainian defense, is valued in the mid-double-digit million-euro range. Deliveries are set to begin in 2024, with completion expected by the end of 2026.

The FSTs, which are highly mobile and equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology, including x-ray containers, operating theaters, and intensive care units, are designed for frontline deployment. Each unit consists of six interconnected containers capable of independent operation for at least 48 hours. Rheinmetall will also provide three HGVs from Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMW) with trailers for transporting the units.

Rheinmetall’s CEO, Armin Papperger, highlighted the proven effectiveness of the company’s medical technology in previous deliveries to Ukraine, expressing pride in contributing to the support of Ukrainian forces. The contract also includes training for Ukrainian personnel in Germany to ensure effective use of the new systems.

This contract follows Rheinmetall’s previous delivery of a mobile field hospital to Ukraine in September 2023, further solidifying the company’s role in providing critical medical support to the Ukrainian military. Two of the newly ordered FST units are scheduled for delivery by the end of 2023 and early 2024.
