Ramboll solutions to help increase mobility in cities are high on the agenda at the leading smart cities conference Nordic Edge being held this week.

COPENHAGEN, 29-Sep-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Increasing urbanisation is putting a strain on cities like never before and keeping people mobile is one of the main challenges.  Ramboll is presenting its smart mobility solutions at the Nordic Edge conference and expo from September 26-28 in Stavanger, Norway.

Jukka-Pekka Pitkänen, Director, Urban Division, Ramboll Finland and Kari Ovesen Haugland, Head of Division, Transportation and Planning have been invited to share a range of Ramboll projects at a special Smart Cities session during the conference. These include Maas, or Mobility as a Service, an innovative system for managing travel that has already been successfully launched in Helsinki, as well as the HALI system that gives emergency vehicles green lights without the need for any pre-planned route.

“While projects like the Hyperloop [a near-vacuum tube that allows for travel at speeds of over 1,000 km per hour], are exciting,” says Jukka-Pekka Pitkänen,”there are plenty of more immediate ways of increasing mobility and making it more sustainable. This can be everything from more efficient traffic flow to better use of existing transport infrastructure and increasing the sharing of modes of transport.”

Also speaking at the conference is Herbert Dreiseitl, the Director of the Liveable Cities Lab, Ramboll who will be discussing with an invited panel the ways in which the Nordic model of urban development can be help cities in other parts of the world and Ramboll’s experience in exporting this expertise.
