Ramboll Expands Climate Week NYC 2026 Engagement With Events on Urban Resilience, Climate Technology, AI Infrastructure, Heat and Flood Risk

(IN BRIEF) Ramboll will take part in Climate Week NYC 2026 with a broad programme of events addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing cities and infrastructure, including housing affordability and decarbonisation, urban resilience, climate technology, the growth of AI and cloud data centres, extreme heat and flooding. Its programme includes a C40 Cities-backed discussion on integrating housing and climate policy; participation in a Columbia University and Pillsbury climate-tech event covering advanced nuclear energy, semiconductors, AI and workforce development; a high-level data-centre roundtable with the Urban Land Institute and Consulate General of Denmark in New York; a networking event with Out in Climate; a resilience roundtable with NYU’s Center for Global Affairs; and a workshop with C40 Cities, UNEP and the City of New York on integrated heat and flood resilience. Senior Ramboll participants include CEO Christian Jensby, Signe Kongebro, Cheryl Ginyard-Jones, Rick Einhorn, Ingvild Reine Assmann and Torben Kulasingam, with the company using Climate Week NYC to contribute engineering and sustainability expertise to discussions on how cities can translate climate ambitions into practical, scalable action.

(PRESS RELEASE) COPENHAGEN, 7-Sep-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Ramboll will participate in Climate Week NYC 2026 with a programme of events focused on urban resilience, climate technology, data-centre infrastructure, housing, extreme heat, flooding and the broader transition toward more sustainable and resilient cities.

The engineering, architecture and consultancy group will join public- and private-sector organisations, policymakers, researchers and industry leaders during the week to examine how climate ambitions can be translated into practical action. Ramboll said the programme reflects the importance of maintaining momentum on sustainability despite wider economic and geopolitical pressures.

Its activities will include panels, roundtables, workshops and networking events involving partners such as C40 Cities, the Urban Land Institute, the Consulate General of Denmark in New York, New York University, UNEP, the City of New York, Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy and Pillsbury.

Ramboll and C40 Cities connect housing policy with urban climate resilience

On 21 September, Ramboll will host “Buildings for People, Cities for Life: A New Agenda for Urban Resilience” at Sky Loft, 50 Hudson Yards.

The event will examine how cities can better integrate housing affordability, resilience and decarbonisation rather than addressing housing and climate policy through separate programmes.

Discussion will draw on the C40 and Ramboll report Where Climate Meets Housing and explore how cities can combine these priorities into a more unified urban strategy.

Christian Jensby, CEO of Ramboll, will open the session. Signe Kongebro, Global Director of Future Resilient Design at Ramboll, and Helene Chartier, Director of Urban Planning and Design at C40 Cities, will introduce the report.

The panel will also include Heather T. Clark, Senior Fellow and former White House Senior Director for Building Sector Climate Policy, and Thure Krarup, Head of Global Public Affairs and Policy at Urban Partners.

Climate-tech event explores nuclear, semiconductors, AI and workforce development

Later on 21 September, Ramboll will participate in “The Future of Climate Tech: Innovation, Careers, and Connections”, organised by the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University SIPA’s Women in Energy initiative and Pillsbury.

The event will bring together industry leaders, employers, innovators and emerging professionals to discuss technologies and policy developments shaping climate technology.

Topics will include advanced nuclear energy, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and corporate sustainability, alongside a second panel examining climate-tech careers, workforce trends and skills requirements.

Cheryl Ginyard-Jones, Managing Director for Ramboll in the Americas, will participate as a panellist.

Roundtable examines responsible growth of AI and cloud data centres

On 22 September, Ramboll, the Urban Land Institute and the Consulate General of Denmark in New York will host a high-level roundtable at One World Trade Center on how AI and cloud-computing infrastructure can expand without placing excessive pressure on local communities.

The discussion will focus on the growing role of data centres in cloud computing, financial services, healthcare, government operations and digital services, while addressing their demands on electricity grids, water resources, land use and permitting systems.

Participants from Europe and the United States will examine how data centres can grow responsibly while potentially providing tangible benefits to the communities hosting them. The event is invitation-only.

Ramboll and Out in Climate host networking event

Also on 22 September, Ramboll and Out in Climate will host a networking reception bringing together professionals working across climate technology, corporate sustainability, finance, policy and clean energy.

The invitation-only event will provide an opportunity for members and supporters of the LGBTQ+ climate community to connect around climate solutions and professional collaboration.

NYU partnership explores relationship between resilience and urban liveability

On 23 September, Ramboll and NYU’s Center for Global Affairs will host “Can Cities Be Climate-Proof and Livable? – A Roundtable on Urban Resilience.”

The session will bring together representatives from academia, non-governmental organisations, city government, industry and philanthropy to examine how climate resilience and urban liveability can reinforce each other.

Participants will explore opportunities for cross-sector collaboration, while NYU students will gain exposure to real-world resilience challenges that can contribute to their capstone work.

Insights from the discussion will also support the ongoing NYU-Ramboll partnership and a planned jointly authored thought-leadership article.

Workshop addresses New York’s interconnected heat and flood risks

Ramboll will also work with C40 Cities, UNEP and the City of New York on “Designing Climate-Ready New York: Integrated Solutions for Heat and Flood Resilience” on 23 September at BE-Exchange.

The workshop will examine the increasingly interconnected risks posed by extreme heat and flooding to neighbourhoods, infrastructure and communities across New York.

City leaders, planners, technical experts, community organisations and resilience practitioners will consider how heat and flood resilience can be incorporated together into planning and investment decisions.

Using New York case studies, international examples and interactive discussion, participants will explore integrated climate-risk analysis and emerging planning tools capable of identifying interventions that deliver multiple benefits for resilience, public space and community wellbeing.

Ramboll brings engineering and sustainability expertise to Climate Week NYC

Across the programme, Ramboll will contribute expertise spanning resilient urban design, sustainable infrastructure, climate technology, data-centre development and climate-risk planning.

The company’s participation reflects the broader aim of Climate Week NYC to connect public and private-sector organisations around practical approaches to climate adaptation, decarbonisation and the energy transition.
