Polar won the prestigious iF design award 2015 for its first dedicated GPS cycling computer, Polar V650

Polar’s new bike computer with GPS hits European stores in March

Kempele, Finland – March 9, 2015 – Polar, the leading manufacturer of heart rate monitors and training and cycling computers, has won the prestigious iF design award 2015 for its first dedicated GPS cycling computer, Polar V650. The innovative, functional and modern design of the V650 is based on Polar’s long line of experience that has been refined to a combination of ease of use and stylish design. This is the sixth time Polar receives the iF design award for its outstanding product design.

Lauri Lumme, the designer of Polar V650 said: “We are honored to be recognized with our design work in relation to the evaluation criteria such as design quality, finish, functionality, safety, degree of innovation and universal design. The V650 has been engineered and designed to make it the highest quality product of its kind.”

Streamlined and light (only 120g), the V650 is easy to attach to the bike with the new bike mount. From the large 2.8” color display, cyclists can see how they are doing at a glance and switch between views even at high speed with a touch of the screen. The front-mounted intelligent LED light turns on automatically in low-light conditions, enhancing visibility and making the rider seen in the dark. The future-proof V650 uses a USB cable for firmware updates, data transfer and charging.

The smartest cycling computer with GPS

The new Polar V650 brings together all the essential features ambitious cyclists are looking for to boost their performance. The integrated GPS functions enable monitoring speed, distance and location, and the cyclist can always find their way back home with the Back to Start feature. The V650 measures altitude data in the most accurate way thanks to a built-in barometric pressure sensor.

Of course the V650 is also packed with familiar Polar Smart Coaching features. To add heart rate into training, the V650 can be used together with Bluetooth Smart Polar H6 or H7 heart rate sensor. The V650 is also fully compatible with Bluetooth Smart cycling speed and cadence sensors (power sensor support available in April 2015). The V650 can be used together with the free Polar Flow web service, which shows the user’s training details as well as route tracking. With comprehensive information, riders can plan and carefully analyze their training.

Polar’s state-of-the-art bike computer will start sales in Europe in March with availability later extended to other countries. The suggested retail price is €219.90 and €269.90 together with Polar H6 heart rate sensor.
